Rainy nights are the best to get all cozy and have some nostalgia served directly to your bed. Yes, the most favorable time of the year to forget about all the hassle and get lost into the childhood days; to go down the memory lane. I just love doing this every once in a while. Whenever it’s raining and I don’t wanna sleep early, I just take a shower, grab some snacks, and then turn off the lights and start watching my favorite childhood movies or shows. Here is a list of 10 nostalgic movies from the 90s & early 2000s that you’ll always love watching.
1. The Fast and The Furious (2001)
With the latest release ‘Hobbs & Shaw’, this franchise has come a long way. Just like the song featured in the seventh movie says – “We’ve come a long way from where we began!”. Nine movies so far (including Hobbs & Shaw) but watching the first part always brings in a feeling totally different from the later ones. I love watching it every once in a while and to remember the days when Paul Walker was young and alive. It still makes my eyes watery. So if you are a fan too, this one’s an amazing flick to watch again.
2. Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone (2001)
I’ve never gotten over the desire of going to Hogwarts till date. And this is one movie I can never get bored of. Watching it just takes me back to the early days of childhood, when I kept hoping for my Hogwarts letter to arrive. So, turn on those muggle devices with moving pictures and tune right in. Immerse yourself into the wizarding world again, watch how Harry got his letter, how he met Ron and Hermione, how his broken glasses got fixed, how he took the first flight on a broomstick, and how their first year at Hogwarts went by.
Well well, I’m never gonna forget this movie and how I felt after watching it for the first time. I watched late in the evening and just after I finished the movie. There was a power cut. It got me freaking out too much, imagining all sorts of wild creatures coming out for me from nowhere. I mean this one was one creepy board game, isn’t it? Go watch it now and refresh your childhood memories again.
4. Spiderman (2002)
Now that Tom Holland has played Spiderman in 5 movies, his face is imprinted as the new Spiderman in mind. But still, when someone says Spiderman, Tobey Maguire is the first person whose face comes in front of my eyes. I still remember how I went on looking for spiders so that I can get them to bite me, hopefully turning me into Spiderman. Yeah, I was that kind of a kid. Go watch it again and rekindle your memories with the movie.
5. Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
I don’t have words to explain the feeling I get when I watch this movie. I discovered this movie a little later than its release. But yeah, it was an important part of my childhood. Captain Jack Sparrow; I’ll never forget the fact that he was the fiercest pirate of the seven seas, and yet blurted out the most hilarious one-liners! I always wanted his ship as a kid and I even tried making a mini-model of it, which I ended up failing eventually. But, the movie is always a treat to watch!
6. Toy Story
The movie came out before I was even born. I watched it much later, during my high school days or so. It is one of the best Disney Pixar movies of all time for me. A movie about the life of toys! That, in itself, is enough for me to have an instant liking for it. Woody, Buzz, Rex, Seargent, Mr.Potato Head, and all others – the toys every kid wanted. With the latest movie released this year, Toy story is an all-time favorite series for the kids of the 90s and early 2000s.
7. Home Alone
Home Alone. How can I forget this amazing movie! Well, I haven’t watched it in a long time but I would absolutely love watching it again. I don’t remember much about it apart from the main plot of how a kid is accidentally left behind when his family leaves, the thieves try to break into his house and he has to put up a fight. Man, I need to watch it again. ASAP.
8. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
I don’t quite remember whether I watched the movie first or read the book. But undoubtedly The Chronicles of Narnia is one of the best from childhood days. How amazing it was to find out that a wardrobe can lead to a mystical land with mystical creatures living in there. How can I forget Aslan! If you’re up for a nostalgia night, this one’s a must-watch.
Another amazing Disney Pixar flick. I watched all the movies again just a few days ago. Cars 3 actually had me in tears. Especially the climax. I had to watch the first one again. Watching Radiator Springs as an adult kinda makes me feel like I used to live there as a kid! All the characters are fresh in my memory. I also love watching the scenes of Mcqueen and Sally over and over again!
10. Tom and Jerry
I actually don’t want to say anything about this one. Just watch the movie again and you’ll get to feel me telepathically or something like that!
